Edward M. Donaher, 81…WWII Army Vet, retired Tewksbury Hospital Supervisor…
NASHUA, NH: Edward M. Donaher, age 81, a longtime resident of New Boston, NH and retired Tewksbury Hospital Supervisor, died Friday, November 28, 2003 at the Courville of Nashua, NH Nursing Home.
He was the husband of Marilyn (Bates) Donaher to whom he was married for 57 years.
Born in Boston in September 16, 1922, he was the son of the late John P. and Ann (Kinihan) Donaher. He was raised in the Charlestown section of Boston.
Mr. Donaher later moved to Wilmington, Mass. and graduated from Wilmington High School in 1940.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was awarded several decorations including the Good Conduct Medal, the Victory Medal and the European African Middle Eastern Campaign Ribbon.
Following his honorable discharge on November 30, 1945, Mr. Donaher lived in the Wamesit section Tewksbury, Mass for several years. He later moved to New Boston, NH where he has resided for the past 40 years.
Prior to his retirement in 1983, he was employed for 46 years at the Tewksbury State Hospital. The last 25 years of his career was spent as supervisor of the Nichols Building.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by 1 daughter; Kathleen Suyematsu of Hampstead, NH; 3 sons; Michael E. Donaher and his wife Leslie of Weare, NH, John “Peter” Donaher of Milford, NH and James F. Donaher and his wife Sue of Hooksett, NH; 5 grandchildren; Katie Harrington, Edward and Abby Donaher, Lauren and Meghan Suyematsu; 2 great grandchildren; Will and James Harrington. ,
Mr. Donaher was the father of the late Jeanne Donaher and Elizabeth Ann Stone and brother of the late James E. and John W. Donaher.
Calling hours Tuesday, December 2nd from 5-8 p.m. at the FARMER & DEE FUNERAL HOME, 16 LEE ST., TEWKSBURY. Funeral Services Wednesday, December 3rd at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment will follow at the Tewksbury Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to the Tewksbury Hospital, c/o Patients Fund, 365 East St., Tewksbury, MA 01876 would be appreciated.
