Anne Remington Larkin, age 76, of Westport, MA, devoted widow of the late John H. Larkin, passed away on the 13th of September at Casey House Hospice in Rockville, MD. She was attended by family at her bedside. The family extends a heartfelt thank you to those many family members, friends and caregivers for their help, care and concerns during Anne’s illness. Born in Norwood, MA, on July 24, 1934, Anne was a graduate of Franklin High School (1952) and Wellesley College (1956) and received her Master’s of Science in Nursing (MSN) in 1978 from the University of Pittsburgh. Anne worked in the University of Pittsburgh Medical system for over 10 years as a psychiatric nurse and taught nursing at Carlow College for over four years. She was a devoted parishioner of Westport Point United Methodist Church for almost twenty years where she was a long time participant in the church quilting group, the bell choir and served as the financial secretary.
Designing and creating hand pieced quilts was Anne’s passion. She gifted many of her family members as well as the community with her artistic, heirloom quality hand pieced quilts. Her time in the bells choir was preceded by years of playing the cello in the Edgewood Recital Group in Pittsburgh, PA. She passed on her love of playing music to her children as a heritage.
Survivors include her brother Paul Remington, four children and their spouses: David and Suzanne Larkin, Jennie Larkin and John Relph, Peter and Donna Larkin and Sara and Joel Bristor as well as eight beloved and cherished grandchildren, Charlie, Benjamin, Zachary and Nathan Bristor, Miles Larkin, Elizabeth and Matthew Larkin and Paul Relph.
Friends and Family are invited to attend a service celebrating Anne’s life on Friday, September 17th at 2:00 pm at Westport Point United Methodist Church at 1912 Main Rd, Westport Point, MA 02791. A reception will be held at the church after the service where offerings of condolences may be made to the family. Interment will be held at Beech Grove Cemetery at 1:15 pm on Friday, September 17th.
