Hellon Stroud Barrett, 86, formerly of 818 Holland Road, died Sunday, September 12, 2010, at Roman Eagle Memorial Home. Born August 24, 1924, in Danville, she was the daughter of the late Homer Stroud and Mary Sue Walker. She was married to French E. Barrett who predeceased her.
Mrs. Barrett retired from the Sewing Department of Dan River Mills after 36 years service and attended Holland Road Baptist Church. She enjoyed reading, was a very hard worker and loved her family very much.
She is survived by two daughters, Patricia Faye McGee of Alexandria, VA and Robin Cobb and husband Sammy Cobb of Danville; three grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. In addition to her husband and parents she was predeceased by a brother, Ralph Homer Stroud.
A funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 15, 2010, at Swicegood Funeral Home with Reverend James Mays officiating. Interment will follow in Danville Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Tuesday, September 14, from 7:00 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. at the funeral home and at other times will be at the residence, 818 Holland Road.
