Marion E. (Leavitt) Correia, 72, of New Bedford died November 28, 2003 at Tufts New England Medical Center after a long illness.
She was the wife of the late Albert Correia, Robert Desrochers and Samie Hougasian.
Born in Marion, the daughter of the late Annie (Pittsley) Dias and John F. Leavitt, Sr., and stepdaughter of Ethel Leavitt of New Bedford; she lived in New Bedford for all of her life.
Mrs. Correia was formerly employed as a certified nurse's aide at Bedford Village Nursing Home for several years.
She was an avid bingo player, and enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include her stepmother; 5 daughters, Susan Greenwood, Sally Cabral, Mary Brunelle, Linda Hougasian and Elizabeth Hougasian, all of New Bedford; a son, Robert Hougasian and his wife Michelle, of Taunton; a daughter-in-law, Anne Fleming of New Bedford; a brother, James Leavitt, and his wife Ivy, of Florida; a sister, Carol Landry of New Bedford; her stepchildren, Steven, Norman and Edward Desrochers, all of Maine, and Corrine Desrochers and Marie Benvie, both of New Bedford, and Steven, David, Scott, Pat and Joanne Correia; 11 grandchildren, Eric L. Stephens, Edward Greenwood, James Hougasian, and his wife Heidi, Heather Brunelle, Kenneth Fleming, Jennifer Jasinski, David Mendez and his companion Alyson Cathcart, Keith Fleming, Robert R. Hougasian, Kayla Greenwood and Hillary Hougasian; 10 great-grandchildren, Erica, Elisha and Eric Stephens, Kaitlyn and Kyle Greenwood, Troy Hougasian, Kenneth Fleming, Jr., Keiyanna Fleming, Kyra and Ayana Gomez, and several step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and many friends.
She was the mother of the late Mark E. Hougasian and sister of the late John F. Leavitt, Jr.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her Funeral Service in the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford Tuesday, December 2nd at 9:30 AM.
Visiting hours Monday, December 1st from 6-9 PM.
Interment Rural Cemetery.
