ESSEX: Randall G. “Randy” Carter, 62, died Saturday, September 11, 2010 in the Beverly Hospital. He was the loving husband of Roberta M. (Kimmence) Carter.
Born in Beverly on December 14, 1947, he was the son of the late George F. and Ruth G. (Knowlton) Carter. He had resided in Gloucester for many years before moving to Essex in 1976. A U.S. Navy veteran of the Vietnam War, he was honorably discharged in December 1968.
Randy owned and operated the L. Rossi Equipment Corp. in Beverly for many years. He was also the caretaker at Camp Menorah in Essex for over thirty years. He enjoyed the many summers spent with family and friends at Chebacco Lake in Essex. He was a member of the A.P. Gardner Post #194, American Legion in Hamilton.
In addition to his wife of forty years, he is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Kara M. and Robert L. Campbell, a grandson, Richard G. Crowell all of Gloucester; three brothers, Wayne L. Carter and his companion, Penny Dyson of Milton, NH, Michael A. and his wife, Susan D. Carter of Magnolia and George “Freddy” Carter and his fiancée, Annmarie Orlando of Gloucester; two sisters, Vickie McCassie of Amesbury and Cheryl A. and her husband, Joseph Mastromarino of Exeter, NH; father and mother-in-law, George and Alice Kimmence of Magnolia; a sister-in-law, Denise DeHaai of Magnolia; two uncles, Francis and his wife, Ann Lander of Gloucester and John and his wife, Joyce Carter of Oklahoma City; his devoted Chihuahua “Tessa” and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins.
His funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday in the Holy Family Parish, St. Ann Church, Pleasant St., Gloucester at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend. There are no visiting hours. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to the Cape Ann Animal Aid, 260 Main St., Gloucester, MA 01930.
