GREEN W. “BILL” SELF, 81, passed away on September 6, 2010.
He was a retired employee of Fawcett Printing/World Color Press where he worked from 1950 – 1989. He married Barbara VanVactor in 1950 who preceded him in death in 1953. He married Billie Jean Caudill in 1955 in Louisville, and moved to Illinois in 1976 with World Color. He enjoyed gardening, hunting, reading, and hummingbirds. Mr. Self was a member of Odin First Baptist Church in Odin, Illinois, and an Army veteran.
He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter-in-law, Doris Adams, great grandsons, Timothy and Evander Adams, sister, Etola Ezell; and his brother-in-law, Chester Fulton, Jr.
Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Billie Jean Self; his children, Stephen Adams of Battletown, Ky., Sherry Shuck (David) of Louisville, Raymond Self (Bridgette) of Louisville, and Lisa Becker (Scott) of Centralia, Illinois; nine grandchildren; Timmy, Dennis, and Greg Adams, Melissa Roberson, Diane Shuck, Alysia and William “Craig” Self, Nicholas and Nathan Becker; 13 great grandchildren;
Brother, Carroll Self (Jo Anne) of Louisville; sister, Shirley Fulton of Beaver Dam, KY; and his brother-in-law, Kenny Ezell of Louisville.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Owen Funeral Home, 5317 Dixie Highway with interment in Louisville Memorial Gardens West.
Visitation will be from 1- 8 p.m. Friday, and after 11 a.m. on Saturday.
