WORCESTER-Mary Jean (Grogan) Healy, 77, of Worcester died Thursday, September 9th in Worcester. Her husband of 45 years, Attorney Edward P. Healy died in 2001. She leaves three sons, Denis F. Healy and his wife, Jackie of Watertown, Matthew P. Healy and his wife, Kristin of Canandaigua, NY and Edward P. Healy, Jr. and his wife, Sandra of Worcester; three daughters, Mary E. Adlard of Norwich, England, Anne E. Abato of Auburn and Jane M. Levasseur of Worcester; two brothers, Francis J. Grogan and his wife, Patricia of Worcester and Paul J. Grogan and his wife, Donna of Hudson, two sisters, Dorothy Goldman, Geri Sofia and her husband, Robert all of Worcester; nine grandchildren, Lucy and Matthew Adlard of Norwich, England, Samuel and Caroline Healy of Canandaigua, NY, Holly, Charles and Emily Geer of Auburn and Lauren and Shawn Healy of Worcester. She also leaves her sister in law, Margaret Moriarty of Worcester and several nephews and nieces. Two sons in law, Gerald L. Abato and Thomas M. Levasseur predeceased her.
She was born in Worcester the daughter of Francis E. and Jane A. (Trainor) Grogan; was a graduate of and class valedictorian for the 1950 Class of Sacred Heart Academy and a 1953 graduate of the St. Vincent Hospital School of Nursing. Mrs. Healy had worked for the Worcester Visiting Nurse Association as a District Nurse until her marriage in 1955. She then dedicated her life to raising her children; and will be remembered as a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and daughter. She was a long time member of Blessed Sacrament Church and a proud member of the Nana Club.
Her funeral is Monday, September 13th from O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue, with a Mass at 10:00 AM in Blessed Sacrament Church, 555 Pleasant Street. Burial will follow in St. John’s Cemetery. Calling hours are Sunday, September 12th from 4:00 until 7:00 PM in the funeral home.
