Laconia----J. Richard “Dick” Larrivee, 75, of 22 Kinsman Dr., Taylor Community, passed away on September 7, 2010 at his home, surrounded by his family, after a brief struggle with cancer.
Dick was born on December 26, 1934, in Laconia, the son of the late Damase and Josephine (Dickson) Larrivee. He attended Sacred Heart Elementary School and Sacred Heart High School, having graduated in 1953. He worked at Scott & Williams until Sept., 1966 when he was accepted by the First National Bank of Boston as a computer trainee. He lived in Dorchester, Mass. until his family joined him in June of 1967 when they purchased a home in Marshfield, Mass. He retired as a data processing manager of the Bank of Boston in 1996 when he and his family returned to Laconia to care for his wife’s parents on Bay Shore Dr., in Sanbornton. In 2004, he and his wife moved to the Taylor Community.
Dick loved sports of all kinds, puttering in his garden, refinishing furniture, reading, walking around Laconia and family gatherings. He was a communicant of St. Joseph Parish in Belmont where he was a Eucharistic Minister and coordinator of the St. Joseph Parish Food Pantry. He was a 3rd Degree Knight and a member of the Robert Leroux Knights of Columbus Council #10943. Dick volunteered driving residents of the Taylor Community to their doctor appointments.
Dick is survived by his wife of fifty-six years, Rena (Deshaies) Larrivee, and his three children, Russell and his wife, Mary, of Twinsburg, Ohio, Denise and her husband, Phillip Steinkrauss, of Weymouth, Mass. and Alan of Oxford, Maine; fifteen grandchildren, Theresa McDonald of Twinsburg, Ohio, Russell, Jr., of Tyngsborough, Mass., Michael of Tewksbury, Mass., Christina Sgarione, of Nashua, Paul of Greenville, Thomas and Peter of Twinsburg, Ohio, John of North Carolina, Catherine, Matthew and Andrew, all of Twinsburg, Kimberly Damon and Cynthia Steinkrauss both of Weymouth, Mass., and Nichole Scott of Italy and Jillian Larrivee of Portland, ME; sixteen great grandchildren and one brother, Kenneth, of Franklin, NH. He was predeceased by his brother, Russell, who was killed in World War II in l944.
Calling hours will be held on Friday, September 10, 2010 from 3:00-7:00PM in the Carriage House of the Wilkinson-Beane-Simoneau-Paquette Funeral Home, 164 Pleasant Street, Laconia, N. H.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, September 11, 2010 at 10:00AM at St. Joseph Parish, 96 Main Street, Belmont, N.H.
Burial will follow in the family lot in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Laconia, N.H.
