Worcester- Zigmond J. Waskiewicz, 84, of 25 Brierway Dr., died Friday, Nov. 28, in UMass-Memorial Medical Center- University Campus.
His wife of 43 years, Josephine (Kiewra) Waskiewicz, died in 1991. He leaves two sons, James F. and his wife, Sharon Waskiewicz of Sutton, and Lawrence A. Waskiewicz of Worcester; a sister, Martha Joy of Worcester; two grandchildren, Timothy R. and Samantha A. Waskiewicz, both of Sutton. He was born in Worcester, son of Martin and Anna (Borawska) Waskiewicz and lived here all his life. He graduated from Commerce High School.
Mr. Waskiewicz was a supervisor at Holbrook Drop Forge Co. for 36 years, retiring in 1985.
He was a member of Our Lady of Czestochowa Parish, the White Eagle Association, and was a life member of the Polish American Veterans of World War II.
He was a World War II U.S. Army veteran, serving in the Battle of the Bulge and the European Theatre, attaining the rank of sergeant.
The funeral will be held Monday, Dec. 1, from HENRY-DIRSA FUNERAL HOME, 33 Ward St., with a Mass at 11 a.m. in Our Lady of Czestochowa Church, 34 Ward St. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery. Calling hours are from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 30, in the funeral home. Members of the Polish American Veterans of World War II will conduct a ritual at 4:30 p.m. Sunday, during the calling hours.
