Hayes, Laymon C. “Jim”, 74, of Louisville went to meet his Lord on Monday, September 6, 2010 at Hosparus Inpatient Downtown.
Jim retired from P. Lorillard Corporation in 1985 and was a member and deacon of Zion United Baptist Church.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Charlie and Janie Hayes; brother, Gene Hayes; and sisters, Thelma Johnson and Arlene Allen.
Survivors include his loving wife of 55 years, Ramona E. Davis Hayes; son, Dale Hayes; daughter, Robin Hitsman (Chuck); brother, Bud Hayes (Sallie); sister, Zelma Ross; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Jim will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
There will be a funeral service at 11am on Friday, September 10, 2010 at Zion United Baptist Church, 7436 Ralston Ave., with interment to follow in Lone Hill Cemetery.
Visitation to the public will be from 5-9pm on Wednesday and from 11am-9pm on Thursday at Owen Funeral Home, 5317 Dixie Highway.
The Hayes family wants to give special thanks to the nurses at Sts. Mary & Elizabeth Hospital in 3A for all their caring and support they gave to Jim.
