Robert H. Howard, Sr., 86, of 18 Madeline Street, East Wareham, MA formerly of New Bedford, died Thursday, November 27, 2003 at the Tremont Skilled Care Center after a period of failing health. He was the husband of Dorothy (Silver) Howell-Howard and widower of Irene (Laffely) Howard.
Born on March 16, 1917 in New Bedford, he was the son of the late Robert and Angela (Evers) Howard.
Mr. Howard worked for the Union Street Railway Company (SERTA) as a driver and a ticket agent, retiring, after 40 years of service, in 1982. He was a former member of the Knights of Columbus Lodge, Middleboro.
Throughout his lifetime he enjoyed boating, golfing, fishing, was a licensed pilot, and also enjoyed "puttering around in his workshop". Mr. Howard also treasured the love and companionship of his two dogs, Mitzi and Dutchess.
Survivors include his beloved wife Dorothy, a son, Robert H. Howard Jr. and his wife, Annette, of Monument Beach, MA; two grandsons, Scott Howard, and his wife Priscilla, and Craig Howard, and his wife Valerie, all of Monument Beach, MA; two great-granddaughters; two stepsons; five step-grandchildren; and ten step-great-grandchildren; a brother, William Howard, and his wife,Yvonne, of Lakeville; nieces and nephews; and many other relatives and friends.
He was the brother of the late Christine (Howard) Rodier and the late Dorothy (Howard) Carew.
