Edward J. Doherty Jr., 52, died unexpectedly on September 4, 2010 in Derry, NH. He was born on July 30, 1958 in Boston, MA to Macy F. Doherty and the late Edward J. Doherty, Sr.
He graduated from Kearsarge Regional High School in 1975 and from UNH with a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering in 1995. He was employed as a Union Ironworker with Local 7 in Boston for 32 years, working with Union Steel Erectors of Weymouth, MA for the past 14 years.
In addition to his mother, Ed leaves behind a daughter, Tara Doherty and a most beloved granddaughter, Ella, both of Manchester, NH. He also left behind 8 sisters and brothers: Macy Fox of Staunton, VA; Kate White and her husband Tim Pangburn of Norwich, VT; Alison Jones and her husband John of Sutton, NH; Brenda Sansom and her husband Robert of Ctr. Barnstead, NH; Neil Doherty and his wife Kim of San Diego, CA; Patrick Doherty of Manchester, NH; Megan Nixon and her friend Keith Emerson of Glen Allen, VA; David Doherty and his wife Jennifer of Monument Beach, MA; twelve nieces and nephews, and one great-nephew.
He also leaves behind a dear friend Michele Schindler of Derry, NH and her two children, Dane and Leanne, as well as a longtime friend Billy Wischerth of Barnet, VT.
A celebration of his life will be held at The Executive Court, 1199 South Mammoth Road in Manchester, NH on October 2, 2010 from 11am to 2pm. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his memory to the Local 7 Scholarship Fund, 195 Old Colony Avenue, PO Box 7, South Boston MA 02127.
