Joseph A. Cataloni, 82

Dateline: Mansfield, MA

Joseph A. Cataloni, 82, of Mansfield passed away in the presence of his loving family on Monday September 6, 2010 at the Good Samaritan Medical Center in Brockton. He was the beloved husband of the late Mary G. (Moriello) Cataloni, to whom he was wed for over 40 years at the time of her death on December 19, 1998.
Born in Foxboro, MA on June 27, 1928 he was a loving son of the late Joseph and Mary (Guerrini) Cataloni.
Joe grew up in Foxboro and was educated in Foxboro public schools. After marrying Mary, he moved to Mansfield where he has made his home for over 50 years.
Mr. Cataloni was a retired self-employed electrician and was the proud owner of Cataloni Electric in Mansfield.
A communicant of St. Mary’s Church in Mansfield, Joe was also a member of the Mansfield Lodge of Elks.
He enjoyed entertaining and organizing cookouts and clambakes for family and friends at his homes in Mansfield and in South Yarmouth. On Cape Cod his favorite times spent were boating, fishing, claming and playing golf.
Joe was an avid New England sports fan and enjoyed the outdoors, hunting and gardening. He had also recently taken up the hobby of bird watching.
He is survived by his devoted and loving children Steven M. Cataloni and his wife Patricia of Mansfield, Diane A. Cataloni and her husband Peter Merlini of North Andover and Sandra A. Carrigan and her husband Thomas of Quincy. The dear brother of Raymond Cataloni of West Yarmouth, Mary Goodwin of Mansfield and the late Alfred Cataloni and Bernard Cataloni, he is also survived by his cherished grandchildren Jillian, Kyle, Brittany and her husband Vinnie, Jefferey, Myles and Ryan. Mr. Cataloni is also survived by his companion Emily Cahill of Foxboro as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.
His funeral, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be held on Friday September 10th at 8:00 A.M. from the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home 55 North Main St. St. Mansfield followed by a Mass of Christian burial celebrated at 9:00 A.M. in St. Mary’s Church 330 Pratt St. (Route 106) Mansfield. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Mansfield.
Visiting hours will be held on Thursday September 9th from 4-8 P.M. at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home.
