Angelo G. Balboni, of Malden a former long-time Medford resident, died Saturday at Boston Medical Center after a long illness. He was 73.
Mr. Balboni was born in Boston, the son of the late Igino and Rose (DiRienzo) Balboni. Raised in Roslindale by the late Angelina Persechini, who was like a mother to him, Angelo served in the Army after finishing high school. He later attended Northeastern University, working his way through school until he earned his engineering degree. Angelo enjoyed a long career with Digital Equipment Corporation as a project manager. A Medford resident for over 40 years, he was very active in local political affairs, serving as president of the Plan E Civic Association in Medford as well as serving on the Mayor’s Budget Committee. A devoted member of the Friday Night Prayer Group, Angelo was at his happiest with his loving family and close circle of friends.
The beloved husband of Beverly (Albanese) Balboni, he was a devoted father to Cheryl Ford and her husband Frederick of Wakefield, Denise Balboni and her partner Stephen Cowie of Malden, Michelle Balboni and her partner Christopher Costa of Bristol, NH. He was a loving grandfather to Sean, Kevin, Sarah and Andrew. He was a dear brother to Louis Balboni, Marino Persechini, Frances Persechini all of Avon, and the late Marion, Bob and Danny. He was also a dear friend to Tony and Janice Ferrara of Somerville.
His funeral will be from the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford, Thursday September 9th at 9 AM followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Francis of Assisi Church, 441 Fellsway West, Medford, at 10 AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours Wednesday 4 - 8. Services will conclude with burial at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.
