Ms. Ruby Lee Hand Blanchett, 90, of Tifton died Monday, September 6, 2010, at Golden Living Center. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 8, 2010, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals. Dr. Danny Ray will officiate with burial to follow in Oak Ridge Cemetery. Her grandsons, Duane Padgett, Joel Blanchett, Jamie Blanchett, Chad Blanchett, Greg Blanchett, Jay Blanchett, Brian Blanchett, McKenzie Blanchett and Lance Blanchett will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be the Senior Ladies Sunday school class of Brookfield Baptist Church. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, September 7, 2010, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.
Ms. Blanchett was born on September 13, 1919 in Tift County and was the daughter of Ploomer Seymour Hand and Susan Matilda Gibbs Hand, both deceased. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Jesse Blanchett; one son, Lance Lavon Blanchett; one grandson, Steven White; two brothers; and one sister. She was a Christian and was the oldest member of Brookfield Baptist Church. She was a homemaker as well as a loving and caring mother and grandmother.
Ms. Blanchett is survived by four sons and three daughters-in-law, Terrell and Paulette Blanchett of Alapaha, Roger and Sheryl Blanchett of Alapaha, Rex Blanchett of Brookfield and Randy and Amy Blanchett of Moultrie; two daughters and sons-in-law, Sandra and Marion Padgett of Lenox and Sherry and Johnny White of Brookfield; 13 grandchildren and their spouses, Duane and Suzanne Padgett, Susan and Bart Holt, Joel and Tonya Blanchett, Jamie and Jennifer Blanchett, Greg and Christy Blanchett, Rosanne and John Lewis, Chad and Crystal Blanchett, Jay and Dawn Blanchett, Brian Blanchett, Lori and Brian Zwijewski, Karen and Jackie Haswell, McKenzie Blanchett and Lance Blanchett ; and 13 great grandchildren, Matthew and John Holt, Maci and Brady Padgett, Rebekah and Abby Blanchett, Emily and Payton Blanchett, Blake and Landen Blanchett, Madison Blanchett, John and Emma Haswell; one brother, W. D. Hand of Ty Ty; and several nieces and nephews.
