Mr. John Madigan, of Tewksbury formerly of Wilmington and Boston's North End, passed away following a brief illness on September 4th at the Saints Medical Center in Lowell. He was the beloved husband of the late Florence "Muriel" (Landry), Lorraine (Damiano) and Rebee M. (Whigham). Born in Charlestown he was the son of John and Elizabeth V. (Martin) Madigan.
Mr. Madigan was a retired building superintendent and had worked in the field for more than 30 years. He was a United States Army Veteran of WWII and honorably serving from 1946 to 1949. He was a lifetime member of the V.F.W. and served as the Past Commander of the Wilmington VFW post 2458. Mr. Madigan also held membership with the Tewksbury VFW and the D.A.V. Throughout his life Mr. Madigan was a car enthusiast, he loved working on antique cars and also loved stock car racing.
In addition to his late wives he is predeceased by two sons, the late Thomas and Paul Madigan, and a sister, the late Dorothy Magrath. He is survived by his children, John Madigan of Maine, Billy Madigan of Wilmington, Mark Madigan of Tewksbury, Elizabeth Marsden, Kathy Mele, Richard Madigan all of Lowell, and Marytheresa LeBlanc of Arizona. He is also survived by 21 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. He is further survived y his sister, Mildred Kelmon of California.
Funeral from the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 374 Main St., WILMINGTON, Wednesday, September 8th, at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Dorothy Church, Main St., Wilmington, at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours Tuesday from 4 thru 8. Interment will be private.
