Obituary

Acushnet – Edna G. Sargent, 89, of Acushnet died at home September 2, 2010.

Miss Sargent was born in New Bedford, daughter of the late Benjamin G. and Edna G. (Tripp) Sargent. Residing in Natick, MA most of her life, she summered at Plum Island, Newburyport, MA. She was a former member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, Natick and more recently attended the Christian Fellowship Center, New Bedford. She worked as a building manager and bookkeeper for Codman & Codman, Boston, retiring in 1970. She was a member of the Natick Woman’s Club and served as secretary for the Natick Historical Society for many years.

Survivors include 11 nieces & nephews: Diane Braley of Acushnet, Jane DeRego of Fairhaven, Peggy DeTerra of New Bedford, William Sargent of New Bedford, James Sargent of New Bedford, Ralph Sargent of New Bedford, Norman Sargent of New Bedford, Janet Smith of New Bedford, Janice Grandfield of Arlington, MA and Bristol, RI, Michael Wing of Mansfield and James Wing of Assonet; several grand nieces & nephews; and many great-grand nieces & nephews.

She was sister of the late Evelyn Wing and William Sargent.

Visiting hours on Monday, September 6, 2010, 6:00-8:00 P.M.

Funeral services on Tuesday, September 7, 2010 at 10:00 A.M. at the Kirby Funeral Home, 61 Tarkiln Hill Road, New Bedford.

Interment in Rural Cemetery, New Bedford.
