John K. Lavender, Jr., 70, of Fitzgerald, Georgia died Thursday, September 2, 2010, at the Medical Center of Central Georgia.
Funeral services will be held 11 A.M. Monday, September 6, at the Paulk Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7-9 Sunday evening at the funeral home in Fitzgerald.
Mr. Lavender was born April 21, 1940 in Jacksonville, Georgia to Pearlie Mae Miller Gaither and the late John K. Lavender, Sr. He moved to Fitzgerald in 1968 and was a former resident of Ocilla and Avon Park, Florida. Mr. Lavender was a former employee of Tifton Machine Works. He was an avid fisherman and auto mechanic.
Mr. Lavender is survived by his wife: Judy Teague Lavender of Fitzgerald; daughters and son-in-law: Gail Gibson of Thomasville and Regina & Tommy Hayes of Ocilla; son and daughter-in-law: John K. & Ronda Lavender, III of West Melbourne, FL; 12 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren; mother: Pearlie Gaither of Mystic; brothers and sisters-in-law: Joe Lavender and Herman & Betty Lavender, all of Fitzgerald, Robert & Dorothy Lavender of Tifton, Lee Lavender of Ocilla, Lewis & Sheryl Lavender of Herod, IL and James & Teena Lavender of Jacksonville, FL; sister and brother-in-law: Barbara & Dwight Starling of Nashville as well as several nieces and nephews. Along with his father, he was preceded in death by 1 daughter, 1 sister and 1 brother.
