Joseph Edward “Papa” McCrohan Sr., age 57 of Berkley passed away September 2, 2010. He was lovingly married to his wife Helen (Szczepkowski) McCrohan for 39 years, and the son of the late John Thomas and Gladys (Marshall) McCrohan. He graduated from the RI School of Electronics and was a retired chief technician for a cable co. He was the former President of the Berkley Athletic Association where he was an umpire and coach for baseball and softball. He also umpired for the Berkley adult softball league. He was an avid fisherman, loved to play guitar, and worked with Public Access Television in Berkley. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of the Vietnam War.
Besides his wife, he is survived by 4 children: Joseph McCrohan Jr. and Katherine Skwarto both of Taunton, Laurie White of Berkley and Robin Holdsworth of Middleboro; 2 brothers: Jerry and Jeffrey McCrohan both of Berkley; 17 grandchildren who he loved and adored; several nieces & nephews. He was brother of the late Carol Gagne and John McCrohan.
His funeral will take place from the MANUEL ROGERS & SONS FUNERAL HOME, 1521 N. Main St. MONDAY at 8:45 A.M. followed by a Mass in St. Bernard Church at 10:00 A.M. Interment in Fox Cemetery, Berkley. Calling hours SUNDAY 4-8 P.M. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the Berkley Fire Association.
