Doris M. (Johnson) Beaman, 84, of Norton passed away on Thursday September 2, 2010 at the Good Samaritan Medical Center in Brockton. She was the beloved wife of the late Allen A. Beaman who died on March 1, 1995.
Born in Chester, MA on August 15, 1926 she was a daughter of the late William and Emilda (Houle) Johnson.
Doris grew up in Taunton, was educated in Taunton public schools and was a graduate of Taunton High School. A resident of Norton for the past 65 years, Mrs. Beaman was a retired Disc Press Operator at Texas Instruments in Attleboro where she was employed for 20 years before retiring.
A member of the Chartley United Methodist Church in Norton, she was a former longtime member of the North Taunton Baptist Church and had volunteered her time to help visit those who were unable to attend church services.
Doris enjoyed times spent with friends at the Norton Senior Center. She possessed exceptional cooking and baking skills, and enjoyed dining out, especially at Benjamin’s Restaurant in Taunton where her favorite meals were complimented with a glass of fine chardonnay white wine. She also enjoyed watching game shows in the comfort of her home, “Deal or No Deal” being one of her favorites.
She is survived by her devoted daughters Sharon E. Beaman of Quincy, Janice E. Beaman of Norton and the late Nancy A. Beaman and Debra Beaman. She was the sister of the late Ernest Johnson, Leonard Johnson, Kenneth Johnson and Evelyn Weir. Mrs. Beaman is also survived by her loving grandchildren Amber, Cameron, Christopher and Meredith, her former son in law Arthur Corbett of Mansfield and several nieces and nephews.
Private services were held on Saturday September 4th at the Chartley United Methodist Church in Norton. Burial was also held privately at the Mayflower Hill Cemetery in Taunton.
