AUBURN-Ernest J. Gedenberg, 72, of 42 Pollier Way, died Wednesday, November 26th at home after a long struggle with cancer. He leaves his wife of 47 years, Louise A. (Sargent) Gedenberg, 3 sons, Mark and his wife Sandy Gedenberg of Warren, James and his wife Karen Gedenberg of Auburn, Paul and his wife Anne Gedenberg of Auburn; 2 daughters, Donna wife of David Sokoloski of Panama City, FL, Pamela wife of Raymond Robichaud of Rochdale; a brother, Robert and his wife Blanche Gedenberg of Auburn; 2 sisters, Florence wife of John Wynn of Beverly Hills, FL, Ida St. John of Camarillo, CA; 12 grandchildren and several nephews & nieces. He was predeceased by a daughter Robin Gedenberg in 1966 and a grandson, Jeremy Ghiz in 1999.
He was born in Greenville, NH the son of John and Blanche (Porter) Gedenberg and was a Navy veteran of the Korean War serving on the USS Great Sitkin. Mr. Gedenberg was maintenance foreman at Rich Products for 10 years retiring in 1996 and previously at Hammond Plastics for many years. He was also employed as a welder for various fence companies in the Worcester area. Mr. Gedenberg was a member of St. Joseph’s Church and the USS Great Sitkin Association.
The funeral will be Monday, December 1st, from O’Connor Brothers Funeral Home, 592 Park Avenue with a Mass at 9:30 AM in St. Joseph’s Church, 189 Oxford Street. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery. Calling hours are Sunday, November 30th from 2:00 until 5:00 PM in the funeral home. Flowers may be sent or contributions may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice. Now in the arms of the angels, Ernest will always be remembered and loved.
