
Joan M. (McDonough) Peters, 49, of Franklin died August 31 in Massachusetts General Hospital following a long battle with breast cancer; she was the wife of Michael R. Peters.
Born in Cambridge, January 4, 1961, the daughter of Constance (Polini) McDonough of Marlboro and the late Robert McDonough, Mrs. Peters was raised in Marlboro and had lived in Franklin for the past 23 years.
She was a 1979 graduate of Marlboro High School and a 1983 graduate of Worcester State College.
Joan had been a key account representative for the 3M Office Supply Company for several years. She had previously worked as a food broker for her late father’s company.
She was the President of the New England Business Travelers Club, and had been a Cub Scout den mother in Franklin and a volunteer in the Franklin Public Schools.
Joan had been very active in the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer and had tirelessly worked for their fund raisers.
In addition to her husband and mother she is also survived by her sons Sean and Ryan Peters of Franklin.
She is also survived by her brother William McDonough of Shrewsbury and her sisters Megan Raskett of Hardwick, Mass and Lisa Veith of Rutland, Mass.
She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Her funeral will be held on Saturday September 4 from the Ginley Funeral Home of Franklin, 131 Main St. in Franklin at 9:15 followed by a funeral Mass in St. Mary’s Church at 10:00 a.m.
Burial will be in the parish cemetery.
Calling hours will be on Friday from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m.
