BRADFORD: Don Burlingame, 54, died Saturday, August 28, 2010 after a long illness, which never broke his spirit or his sense of humor.
Though a hard working man, work was never his primary motivation: keeping strong relationships with family and friends was. He was a man of impeccable wit, but was happy to stoop to the groan-inducing pun. He wanted little more than to buy you a beer, share a joke and play a game of pool. Don was an avid sailor, birdwatcher and excellent cook: the self proclaimed “King of the Weber.” Many others described him as bigger than life.
Don was born in New York City, the son of the late Donald and Martha Burlingame. He graduated from Salem State College class of 1981. He worked in sales for many years at various places including the Beverly Depot Restaurant and Ira Motors.
He is survived by his wife of twenty-nine years, Eileen (Ingalls) Burlingame, two sons, Tyler and Ian Burlingame both of Brooklyn, New York, two sisters, Martha Murray of Dennisport and Dana Locke of McLean, VA and several beloved nieces and nephews.
Please join the family in celebrating the life of Don Burlingame on Wednesday in the Linnehan-Grondin Funeral Home, 52 Salem Street, Bradford from 4 – 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to the Salvation Army, 147 Berkeley St., Boston, MA 02116. Skol Skol D Eddy
