William T. Hill, 63, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, died Monday, August 30, 2010 at the Fitzgerald Nursing Home.
Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Thursday, September 2, at Central United Methodist Church with Dr. Lloyd Stembridge, Rev. Keith Goodlett and Rev. Wayne McCrimmon officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 Wednesday evening at the funeral home.
Mr. Hill was born October 5, 1946 in Tift County, Georgia to Sybil Kelly Hill and the late Harvey Hill. He grew up in Turner County, graduating from Turner County High School in 1964. Mr. Hill attended South Western Technical College in Americus. He was a former resident of Rebecca where he and his father operated the Rebecca Milling Company. Mr. Hill retired from the Paulk Funeral Home after 23 years of service. He was a jet mechanic in the United States Air Force serving two tours of duty in the Vietnam War. Mr. Hill was a member of Arbor Baptist Church, a former member and deacon of Salem Baptist Church and a former member of the First Baptist Church in Fitzgerald. He was a hard worker and an avid car collector.
Mr. Hill is survived by his wife: Joan Owens Hill of Fitzgerald; Sons and daughters-in-law: W.T. “Bill” & Kristie Hill of Perry and John & Georgia Hill of McDonough; 5 grandchildren: Chandler, Colby, Chloe, Jake and Luke Hill; mother: Sybil Hill of Sycamore and a sister and brother-in-law: Harlene & Jay Shingler of Sycamore.
