Obituary

Edmund, F.McDonald, 89, a lifelong resident of Johnston passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on August 28, 2010. He was the loving husband of the late Ursula (O’Brien) McDonald of 49 years, and father of the late Brien T. McDonald. He is survived by his sons Timothy R. McDonald of Narragansett, Thomas F. McDonald and his wife, Lisa of Johnston and Narragansett, as well as cherished in laws, and nieces and nephews.
Born in Providence, he was the youngest of eight children. Mr. McDonald was a graduate of LaSalle Academy and Brown University. He was a decorated member of the Army Air Force during WWII. A gunner/bombardier in the European and African Theaters from 1941-1945, he served his country with distinction. He was engaged in 67 combat missions and was the proud recipient of the Medal of Valor, Army Air Medal with 7 Oak Leaf Clusters, Good conduct Medal as well as numerous other awards and commendations.
In 1959 he founded and operated one of the first Independent Insurance Adjusting firms in the State of RI. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed sports and spending time with family and friends at his summer home. Edmund always brought a smile to everyone’s face and he will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
Funeral Thursday at 9am from the ANDERSON-WINFIELD Funeral Home, Route 44 at Greenville Common, Greenville. Mass of Christian Burial at 10am in St. Joseph Church, Danielson Pike, North Scituate. Burial with military honors in RI Veterans Cemetery. Visitation Wednesday 5-7 Pm.
