Peter R. Sarra age 88 of Canton passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family August 28th. Born in Newton, he was raised in Canton, attended St. John’s School in Canton and graduated from Canton High School. He was an Army Veteran of WW II and the Korean War. He was the owner of Sarra Realty in Canton for many years. Peter was an active member of the Town of Canton where he was a past member of the Canton Lions Club, Past Commander of the Canton VFW, past member of the American Legion Post #24, a past member of the Son’s of Italy, a member of the Republican Town Committee & the Registrar of Voters. He was also a member of the Arabian Horse Assn and raised, raced and showed his horses. He enjoyed book collecting and collecting historical post cards of the Town of Canton. Beloved husband of the late Helen M. (Balczyk). Father of Mary C. Marinaro & her husband James of N. Easton & Helen C. Sarra of Canton. Brother of Salvatore Sarra Jr. of Wisconsin & the late Franklin R. Sarra. Grandfather of Aaron Westerman& his wife Judith of Milford & Anthony Marinaro of N. Easton. Great grandfather of Olivia & Cody Westerman. Visiting hours at the Dockray & Thomas Funeral Home 455 Washington St. Canton Thursday 4-8 pm. Funeral mass at St. John the Evangelist Church Canton Friday morning at 10:30. Interment St. Mary’s Cemetery, Canton.
