Miss Eleanor E. Cannon, 97, of Fitzgerald, Georgia died Friday, August 27, 2010 at Fitzgerald Nursing Home.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Tuesday, August 31, 2010 at the Paulk Funeral Home Chapel in Fitzgerald with Rev. Keith Goodlett officiating. Interment will follow in the Stubbs Cemetery in Abbeville, Georgia. The family will receive friends one hour before the service at the funeral home.
Miss Cannon was born September 15, 1912 in Abbeville, Georgia to the late Martin Bellinger and Columbia “Lomie” Barnes Cannon, Sr. Miss Cannon graduated from Hillsborough High School in 1929. She attended Tampa Business College. She was a retired office manager of Hillsborough News Company in Tampa, Florida. Miss Cannon moved back to Fitzgerald in 1977. She was a member of Central United Methodist Church, a member of the Friendship Sunday school class where she was treasurer of the class, and she was a member of UMW Circle #3.
Miss Cannon is survived by her niece: Elizabeth Hooton of Roanoke, Alabama; 2 nephews: William (Charlotte) Pruitt of Marietta, Georgia and Ashley (Ruth) Pruitt of Manchester, Georgia as well as several great nieces and nephews. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by 3 sisters and 4 brothers.
