Sheldon R. “Bob” Marvelle, 78, of Warwick formerly of Cumberland and Attleboro passed away on Thursday August 26, 2010 at St. Luke’s Hospital in New Bedford.
Born in Wareham, MA on May 5, 1932 he was a son of the late Clyde and Geraldine (Fountain) Marvelle.
He grew up in Wareham and Mansfield, was educated in Mansfield public schools and was a graduate of Monsignor Coyle High School in Taunton. He later served in the United States Army during the early 1950’s before being honorably discharged.
Mr. Marvelle was a retired Laboratory Technician and had been employed for Texas Instruments in Attleboro for over 45 years before retiring.
A resident of Warwick for over 10 years, he had previously made his home in Cumberland for several years and was a former Attleboro resident for over 20 years.
Bob processed a special love for the ocean and fishing. While younger, and raising his sons in Attleboro he coached baseball and enjoyed family camping trips.
He is survived by his devoted sons Mark Marvelle of Nevada, Keith Marvelle of Florida, Brian Marvelle of Hope Valley, Rhode Island, David Marvelle of Washington State and Gary Marvelle of Pawtucket, Rhode Island. He was the brother of Edward Marvelle of Attleboro, John Marvelle of Mansfield, Geraldine Blanchet of Virginia and the late Clyde Marvelle, Richard Marvelle, Howard Marvelle and Ralph Marvelle. Mr. Marvelle is also survived by several grandchildren, several great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
His funeral, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be held on Wednesday September 1st at 9:30 A.M. from the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home 55 North Main St. Mansfield followed by a Mass of Christian burial celebrated at 10:30 A.M. in St. Mary’s Church 330 Pratt St. (Route 106) Mansfield. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Mansfield.
Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday August 31st from 5-8 P.M. at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home.
