Obituary

Judith M. Barlow
...former manager at Malden Mills, Mill Textile Direct; 69
TEWKSBURY - Judith M. Barlow, age 69, died peacefully, August 24, at D'Youville Senior Care Center in Lowell, following an extended illness. She as the beloved wife for 53 years of M. Jerry Barlow.
Judy wished to extend her heartfelt thanks to those friends that touched her life so deeply. Judy was both a fabulous seamstress and an avid gardener who loved to travel. To all of you who met her along life’s paths please know that your hearts are bound forever.
She was born in Detroit Michigan, January 10, 1941, a daughter of the late Austin and Elizabeth (Monkhouse) Shafer. She lived the greater part of her life in Tewksbury, where she was a member of the Red Hat Society, and appeared in the Red Hat Calendar twice. She was also an occasional visitor to the Tewksbury Senior Center. She worked as a manager for Mill Textiles Direct, formerly Malden Mills.
Outside of her family, these enduring friendships were a most important facet of her life, especially when she gathered with friends for a good cause. She was deeply committed to the community of Tewksbury, having served as President of the Tewksbury Garden Club for three terms, for which she was elevated to Honorary Member. Among other projects, the town can thank Judy for leading her garden club friends to create the daylily garden around the Wamesit Indian Sculpture.
She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Sandy Dukeshire and her husband Douglas of Andover; a son, Douglas A. Barlow of AZ; a sister, Elizabeth Frazer; four beloved grandchildren, Sarah Tower and her husband George of Bradford, Laura Dukeshire of CO, Dana Dukeshire of Andover, and Courtney Barlow of Merrimack, NH; a beloved great grandson, Connor; and many nieces and nephews.
Judy’s talents will shine on. And while it was her explicit wish to pass without a memorial service, she knew that those who loved her would remember her happy and talented life. Contributions in her memory can be made to the Tewksbury Garden Club, P.O. Box 175, Tewksbury, MA 01876.
