Gladys Spivey, age 79, passed away at Shady Acres Convalescent Home on Wednesday, August 25, 2010 following an extended illness. Mrs. Spivey was born in Pearson, Georgia to the late Vernie Martin and Alice Wright Corbitt on November 15, 1930. Mrs. Spivey was preceded in death by her husband, George Clayton Spivey, daughter, Tisha Marie Spivey and sister, Mae Etta Carver. Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 27, 2010 in the Fales Pentecostal Church at 2:00 p.m. with burial following in the Jowers Chapel Cemetery. Survivors include: daughters: Shirley (Dorsey) Thigpen, Douglas, GA, Vernell (Greg) Bennett, Douglas, GA, Latrelle (Kenny) Anderson, Douglas, GA, Linda (Donald) Bennett; sons: Clayton Levonne (Patsy) Spivey, Douglas, GA, Donnie (Ann) Spivey, Pearson, GA, Quillian Spivey, Millwood, GA, Larry Spivey, Pearson, GA, Howard (Pam) Spivey, Brunswick, GA; brothers: Mitchell Corbitt and Johnny Melvin Corbitt, both of Pearson, GA, Harvey Corbitt, West Green, GA, sisters: Betty Spivey and Ann Mary O’Berry, both of Pearson, GA; host of grandchildren and great grandchildren; nieces, nephews and other relatives. The family will receive friends on Thursday, August 26, 2010 from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Sims Funeral Home. Sims Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
