Obituary

Claire C. (Lemos) McDonald, 98, a powerful woman of God and matriarch of the Frank and Rose (Perry) Lemos family died on August 25, 2010 at St. Luke's Hospital.
She was the wife of the late Lewis E. McDonald.
Born in New Bedford, she lived in New Bedford most of her life.
She was a communicant of St. John the Baptist Church.
Mrs. McDonald was formerly employed as an inspector for many years and 5 years as a nurse's aide at Acushnet Company Rubber Division until her retirement. She was an active member of the Buttonwood Zoological Society, Catholic Women's Club and the Garden Club of New Bedford.
Survivors include 2 sons, Lewis E. McDonald, Jr. and his wife Joan of Barefoot Bay, FL and Robert E. McDonald of New Bedford; a daughter-in-law, Harriet McDonald of New Bedford; 7 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
She was the mother of the late James E. McDonald and the sister of the late Gertrude Alves, Frank Lemos, Manuel Lemos, Joseph Lemos and Rose Dias.
Funeral from the Saunders-Dwyer Home For Funerals, 495 Park St. New Bedford Saturday, August 28th at 8 AM. Funeral Mass at St. John the Baptist Church at 9 AM. Burial will follow in St. John's Cemetery. Visiting hours Friday, August 27th from 5-8 PM.
