Phyllis L. (White) Livingstone, 56, of Buzzards Bay died Sunday August 22, 2010 peacefully at home. She was the wife of Michael J. Livingstone.
Born in Wareham, the daughter of the late Cecelia P. (Dutra) and Manuel S. White, Jr., she was raised in Falmouth. After her marriage, she initially lived in Boston until her husband graduated from law school. She later resided in New Bedford, then Lakeville, before returning to New Bedford, and finally moving to Buzzards Bay. She was a proud resident of Aruba, where they maintained a second home and traveled frequently, intending to retire there in the future.
Mrs. Livingstone was formerly employed as a lottery sales representative with the Massachusetts State Lottery. She had also previously worked in the Bristol County District Attorney's Office.
She was a member of the Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepluchre of Jerusalem.
She enjoyed cooking, sewing and travelling to Bermuda, the Caribbean, Mexico, South America, and Egypt, but Aruba was her favorite place in all the world, and where she was the happiest. She had a great faith in God and love for her husband and children. She will be sorely missed by her family and many friends and her Silky Terrier "Bella".
She was a communicant of St. Lawrence Church in New Bedford and St. Margaret's Church in Buzzards Bay, but for the last year since her illness, she enjoyed the Sunday afternoon Mass at St. Luke's Hospital with Fr. Rodney Thibault and Sister Judith Costa, whose wonderful faith was a great comfort to her.
Her family would like to sincerely thank her doctors, Matthew Messina and John Niedzwicki and their dedicated staffs for their excellent care of Phyllis, especially during the last year of her life with her courageous battle with lung and brain cancer.
She is survived by her husband; and two children, Michael J. Livingstone, Jr. of New Bedford and Amanda M. Sanders and her husband David of Portsmouth, RI.
At Phyllis' request, her wake, Funeral Mass, and burial in St. Mary's Cemetery were private. Arrangements were by the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford. For online condolence book, please visit www.saundersdwyer.com.
