TAUNTON - Robert W. Stillwell, husband of Eugenia (Butler) Lewry Stillwell, died at Morton Hospital & Medical Center on Aug. 23, 2010.
He was 85.
Born and raised in Taunton, he was the son of the late Eliot and Abbie (Griffiths) Stillwell.
Mr. Stillwell attended Taunton High School and later graduated from Wilbraham Academy.
He was a U.S. Air Force Veteran of WW II.
Employed for many years as an office manager by the former New England Industrial Truck Co., he retired in 1990.
A resident of Framingham for much of his adult life, Mr. Stillwell enjoyed boating, and was an active member, boat safety inspector, and Past District Commander of the Nobscot Power Squadron.
He thoroughly enjoyed summers on Cape Cod, spending time with family and friends at his South Yarmouth home.
He was a member of ROMEO (Retired Old Men Eating Out), who met monthly for breakfast and great conversation.
He also was an avid N.E. Patriots fan.
Besides his wife of Taunton, he leaves two stepsons, David E. Lewry and his wife Kathleen, and Richard T. Lewry and his wife Michele, all of Taunton; two stepdaughters, Carol J. Fraise and her husband Jack of FL, and Joanne M. Lewry of N. Dighton; five grandchildren, Jennifer Nicol and her husband David, Kathleen Lewry-DaRosa and her husband Jason, Lori Williams and her husband Robert, Nora Lewry, and Nicholas Lewry; six great grandchildren, Skyla, Cameron, and Oliver Nicol, Justine Lewry, and Julia and Alexander Lewry-DaRosa; and special friends, Susan and Jon Platt and their son, Alex Platt.
The family is planning a remembrance gathering to be held at a future date.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Taunton Animal Care Facility, 821 W. Water St. Taunton, MA 02780.
Arrangements are being handled by the Silva Funeral Home, 80 Broadway, Taunton.
