Elsie E. Saragosa, “Mary” age 80 of Medford died Sunday in her home surrounded by her loving family. She is the wife of the late Alexander “Alex” Saragosa. Mrs. Saragosa was born in England, the daughter of the late George and Edith (Salter) Whitney. She emigrated to the United States as a “War Bride” in 1954 at the age of 25. She had many interests. She was a collector of English style copper items. Known as a wonderful cook she always found time to read the morning Herald cover to cover. She loved to travel, she loved Alaska. Her favorite destination was Las Vegas. She also enjoyed Atlantic City, Foxwoods and Mohegan Sun to name a few. There was nothing like her cottage where she and her family spent many summers on Thomas Lake in Maine. An avid Bingo player she was also a well known figure at the Grace Episcopal Church and it’s many activities. While at home she had a green thumb when it came to her gardening. A warm and affectionate animal lover, she will be sadly missed by her cat “Winnie”. She is the mother of Michael Saragosa of Wakefield, Catherine Driscoll and her husband James of Tewksbury, Daniel Saragusa and his wife Lauren of Wilmington, Joanne Kozack and her husband Jay of Chelmsford and extended family member Kenny Sandberg of Tewksbury. Loving grandmother of Amanda Driscoll, Alex Kozack, Katrina and Cameron Saragosa. Dear sister of Sally Selby and her husband Edward of England and the late Valda Evans and William Whitney. Also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call on Friday from 4 thru 8 at the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford. A funeral service will be held at Grace Episcopal Church, 160 High St., Medford, Saturday at 10:00 am. Burial will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.
