Michael T. DeMellia a Salem, NH resident since 1991 died Sunday morning at the Holy Family Hospital in Methuen after a sudden illness, he was 70 years old.
Mr. DeMellia was born, raised and educated in South Boston and moved to Salem, NH from Mattapan.
He retired from Gillette Co. in Andover, MA in 1993 where he was a Metal Craftsman. He had also worked for General Electric Co. in Everett and Standard Thompson Co in Waltham, MA. He was a Korean War Veteran serving in the US Marine Corp.
He was a founding member of the Cousin’s Club; he enjoyed photography, gardening, reading and spending time at the beach with his family. He also loved woodworking and making furniture and toys for his family especially his grandchildren.

John S. DeMellia & his wife Brenda of Salem, NH
3 sisters, Dorothy Foley of Port Charlotte, Florida Mary Downing of South Boston Ann Clark of Roslindale, MA
9 grandchildren and several nieces & nephews.
He was predeceased by his brother John DeMellia and sisters, Agnes Deering and Barbara Delaney
A funeral Mass will be celebrated Wednesday at 10:30 at St. Joseph Church in Salem, NH followed by burial in Pine Grove Cemetery also in Salem.
