WESTBOROUGH/NATICK: Catherine M. (Curley) Haynes, 89, died peacefully in the comfort of her family on Monday, August 23, 2010 at the Beaumont Skilled Nursing and Rehab Center following a period of declining health.
She was born in Boston on April 1, 1921 the daughter of the late James J. and Rose E (Worley) Curley.
She was the devoted mother of George E. Haynes, Jr. and his wife Kathleen M. of Medway; Robert M. Haynes of Sutton and Carol M. Grandgent and her husband Charles of Alachua, FL. She is also survived by 8 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. She was the wife of the late George E. Haynes who died in May of 1981 and sister of the late James J. Curley who died in 2007. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Catherine spent her formative years in Dorchester and was a graduate of the Jeremiah E. Burke High School in Dorchester. She was a graduate of the Katherine Gibbs School in Boston. She had a long career as an executive secretary which began at the Jordan Marsh Company and with Sears Roebuck. She retired after many years as the secretary to Dr. Robert Packer of Cochituate and Natick. In her earlier years she was an active communicant of St. Patricks Church in Natick. Catherine and her family resided in Natick for over 40 years before she retired to Deltona, Florida. In 1999 she returned to be closer to her family and resided in Westborough. She was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother to her family and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Visitations will be held on Thursday, August 26, 2010 from 9:30 am to 11:00 am at the John C. Bryant Funeral Home, 56 Pemberton Road (off Rte 30) Cochituate Village, Wayland.
Her Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:30 am at St. Patrick’s Church, 44 East Central St (Rte 135) Natick.
Interment in the Curley-Haynes family lot in Lakeview Cemetery will be private for her family.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts in Catherine’s memory may be sent to the charity of the donor’s choice.
