Obituary

Louise B. Daly, 85, died suddenly Sunday afternoon, August 22, 2010 at her home in Salem. She was the loving wife of Atty. Richard E. Daly, with whom she shared 63 years of marriage.

Born in Salem on December 13, 1924, she was the daughter of John J. McCarthy and Julia (Tierney) McCarthy. After attending Saltonstall Elementary School and graduating from Salem High School, she enrolled at and graduated from St. Elizabeth’s Hospital School of Nursing as a Registered Nurse
.
Louise was employed at Saint Elizabeth’s Hospital and Salem Hospital in obstetrics, as well as a local convalescent home. She lived in Salem her entire life. With her husband Richard, she was dedicated to raising a family of ten children. She enjoyed vacations in Maine, cookouts, Forest River Park, and family reunions. She was an adoring grandmother, whose loving home was the center of continuous family activity. Louise also belonged and enjoyed her Thursday Ladies Club, which met every two weeks since her high school days. She also treasured her time with her Catholic Nurses Club.

In addition to her husband, Louise is survived by her nine children and spouses: Dennis F. and Joanne Daly of Salem, Mary-Lou Daly of Salem, Richard E. and Joyce Daly of Danvers, James M. and Magda Daly of Peabody, Kevin T. and Maria Daly of Salem, Kathleen T and Michael Bonaiuto of Peabody, Anne Marie and William Conners of Tewksbury, Margaret Daly and Daniel Crateau of Danvers, and Air Force Major Matthew J. and Lauri Daly of Shreveport LA. 25 grandchildren also survive Louise.

Her daughter Elizabeth Ann Daly, who died in infancy, predeceased Louise. She was also predeceased by her brothers, J. Leo McCarthy, and Phillip C. McCarthy, as well as her sisters, Ruth Ann Diggins, and Mary (Dolly) McCarthy.

Her funeral will be on Thursday, August 26, 2010 at 9:45 a.m. from the Levesque Funeral Home, 163 Lafayette St. [Rt. 114 / 1-A] followed by her funeral mass in Immaculate Conception Church, Hawthorne Blvd, Salem at 11 a.m. Visiting hours: Wednesday 2 to 8 p.m. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Salem.
