Gilmanton Iron Works-----William “Bill” A. Divers, 89, of 9 Mountain Road, Gilmanton Iron Works, died at home on Monday, August 23, 2010 surrounded by his loving family. Mr. Divers was the widower of Madge (Lyon) Divers who died in 2001.
Bill was born July 23, 1921 in Havre de Grace, Maryland, the son of Mary (Walker) and William A. Divers, Sr.
Bill lived in Maryland for many years before moving to Laconia in 1966. He moved to Tilton in 1987 and then moved to Gilmanton in 2001. He had been employed at the Laconia State School & Training Center for twenty years before retiring in 1987.
Bill was a member of the Presbyterian Church of Churchville, Maryland and enjoyed singing with the Ashland Community Choir and the Ashland Musical Revue Choir.
Bill was known for his love of family, love of gardening and love of music.
Survivors include four sons, David Mark Divers of Brevig Mission, Alaska, John Eric Divers of Gilmanton, Andrew Scot Divers of Gilmanton Iron Works and Jeffrey Arthur Divers of Hooksett, NH; two daughters, Mary M. Divers of Laconia and Anne Rebecca Montoya of Santa Fe, New Mexico; fifteen grandchildren, ten great grandchildren; a sister, Mary Janice Twitchell, of Haddonfield, New Jersey and several nephews and nieces. In addition to his wife and parents, Mr. Divers was predeceased by a daughter, Jane E. Divers, in 1985 and by a sister, Ann Rosalie Hopkins.
There will be no calling hours.
A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, August 26, 2010 at 4:00PM in the Carriage House of the Wilkinson-Beane-Simoneau-Paquette Funeral Home, 164 Pleasant Street, Laconia, N.H.
Burial will be in the family lot in Harford Memorial Garden, Aberdeen, Maryland.
