Jeanne M. (Pothier) Barnes, 77, of Franklin, died, Saturday, August 21, 2010 at Sturdy Memorial Hospital. She was the devoted fiancée of Michael A. Pizzi of Franklin for over 30 years and loving mother of Robert Barnes Jr. and his wife Irene of Rockport, Texas.
Born in Norwood on June 12, 1933, she was a daughter of the late Melbourne and Hattie (Melanson) Pothier.
Mrs. Barnes was a resident of Franklin for the past 3 years and formerly resided in Plainville.
After graduating from catholic high school in Boston, Mrs. Barnes worked for Dr. Minkin in West Roxbury for many years. She later worked in human resources at Polaroid in Norwood.
After her retirement, she earned her real estate license and worked in real estate in Foxboro for 6 years.
Mrs. Barnes wintered in Florida for 23 years with her fiancé, Michael and enjoyed her annual trips to Disney World and watching polo in Palm Beach. She also loved to watch golf and attend the Bay Hill Invitational Golf Tournament at Arnold Palmer’s golf course.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral on Thursday, August 26 from the Ginley Funeral Home of Franklin, 131 Main St. at 9:15 a.m. followed by a funeral Mass at St. Mary’s Church in Franklin at 10 a.m.
Burial will follow in Brookdale Cemetery in Dedham.
Calling hours will be held on Wednesday from 6 – 8 p.m.
