Miriam R. (Sullivan) McAuliffe, a lifelong resident of Wakefield, died on Sunday, August 22, 2010, at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston following an extended illness. She was 78 years old.
Miriam was born in Melrose on August 1, 1932 to the late Daniel and Mary (Shanahan) Sullivan. She grew up in Wakefield where she attended Wakefield Public Schools and graduated from Wakefield High School. Miriam worked in the banking business many years where she held an administrative position for a bank in Boston. Recently she was a homemake taking care of her family. She enjoyed drawing, taking trips to the White Mountains in New Hampshire and visiting Cape Cod. She was also involved in several prayer groups at St. Joseph's Church in Wakefield.
Miriam is the beloved wife of 51 years to Philip L. McAuliffe Jr. She is the devoted mother of Philip L. McAuliffe, III, and his wife Karen of Wakefield and Lisa A. McAuliffe of Melrose. She is the loving Nana to Philip L. McAuliffe, IV, Casey J. McAuliffe, Alexander J. McAuliffe and James D. McAuliffe. She is the beloved sister of Elaine Sullivan of Wakefield and the late Barbara Berlo. She is the loving aunt to many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Miriam's Funeral on Friday, August 27, 2010, at 9 a.m. from The Carr Funeral Home, 1159 Main Street, Wakefield/Melrose line, followed by her Funeral Mass in St. Joseph's Church, 173 Albion Street, Wakefield, at 10 a.m. Interment at St. Patrick's Cemetery, Stoneham. Visiting hours will be on Thursday, August 26, 2010, from 5 to 8 p.m.
