TEWKSBURY - Jacalyn Michelle Manning, age 37, died Sunday morning, August 22, at Mass General Hospital in Boston, following a lengthy illness. She was the beloved wife of Jose E. Avelar, with whom she had recently celebrated a 3rd wedding anniversary.
She was born in Lynn, August 24, 1973, a daughter of Marie (Tangusso) Garavanian of Tewksbury, and the late John D. Manning, and step-daughter of Hagop Garavanian, who died ten days ago. She was raised in the Tewksbury and Wilmington area, and most recently lived in Las Vegas, for eight years, before returning to Tewksbury last year. She was a graduate of the Shawsheen Vocational Technical High School in Billerica.
Besides her husband and mother, she is survived by a daughter, Alicia Marie Avelar; a step-son, Jose Avelar of Las Vegas; nine brothers and sisters, Donna Mary Nelson of Lynn, David Francis and his wife Judy Nelson of Lynn, Kenneth Michael and his wife Theresa Nelson of Lynn, Sandra Marie and Paul Fleming of Tewksbury, Harry and his wife Katrina Garavanian of Lowell, Gabriel and his wife Eileen Garavanian of Tyngsboro, Maryann Fairbanks of Fitchburg, Sarah Singer of Peabody, Jeffrey Garavanian of CA; and several aunts and uncles.
Visiting hours Thursday, August 26, from 4 to 7 p.m. followed by an evening prayer service at 7:00 p.m. in the funeral home. After cremation, committal prayer will be offered at St. Mary's Cemetery, Thursday, September 2, at 2:00 p.m. Kindly omit flowers.
