Obituary

James P. "Dapper" Dolaher, a lifelong resident of Charlestown, died unexpectedly on Friday, August 20, 2010 at The Whidden Hospital in Everett. He was 75 years old.

Dapper was born in Boston on November 18, 1934 to the late James and Helen V. (McHugh) Dolaher. He grew up in Charlestown where he attended St. Francis De Sales Parochial School and graduated from Charlestown High School in 1952. He enlisted into the United States Marine Corps on February 26, 1954 and served his country during the Korean Conflict. He was discharged on February 25, 1957 with the rank of Private First Class. Dapper worked for more than 32 years as a technician at Western Electric Company. He retired in 1987. Dapper furthered his education in the 1970's by attending Boston State College and Newbury College and recieving his Bachelors Degree. He was involved with Charlestown Youth Hockey for many years and traveled to Ireland with his wife Kitty a total of 23 times.

Dapper is the beloved husband of the late Catherine A. "Kitty" (Buckley) Dolaher who passed away on February 3, 2010. He is the devoted father of James P. Dolaher and his friend Karen McHugh of Charlestown, Karen Hakkam and her husband Ahmed of Haverhill, Michael P. Dolaher and his wife Kathleen of Quincy, Patricia Pires and her husband Derek of Everett and Maureen Getchell and her husband John of Everett. He is the loving Papa to 14 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. He is the beloved brother of Francis Dolaher of Saugus, Joseph Dolaher of Centerville, Kathleen Jones of Falmouth and the late Edward Dolaher. He is also the loving uncle of many nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend Dapper's Funeral on Wednesday, August 25, 2010 at 9 a.m. from The Carr Funeral Home, 220 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown followed by his Funeral Mass in St. Francis De Sales Church, 313 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown at 10 a.m. Interment at Holy Cross Cemetery, Malden. Visiting hours will be on Tuesday, August 24, 2010 from 4 to 8 p.m.
