LEONARD CONANT MATHER BLOSS, 81, passed away on Friday, August 20, 2010.
He was a retired teacher and assistant athletic director for Butler High School, where he was known as “Mr. Butler”. He was inducted into several athletic “Halls of Fame”, was a Ky. Colonel, and was the “voice” of Shively Park. Leonard was a member of Shively Heights Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and a member of the choir.
Leonard devoted his life to teaching and coaching young people in the community, and his influence on the lives of those he touched will last a lifetime.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Susan Lynn Bower.
Survivors include his devoted bride of 55 years, Dorothy Hutchinson Bloss; his daughter, Elizabeth Anne Bloss Taylor (John); son, David Allen Bloss (Nancy); grandchildren, Lesley-Anne Bloss Duke (David), Wesley Taylor, Olivia Bloss, Abigail Bloss and Corinne DeWolfe; great grandson, Brandon Christopher Duke; and his brother, Dr. Bryant Allen Bloss.
Funeral services will be 12:00 p.m. Monday at Shively Heights Baptist Church3516 Schaffner Drive, with burial in Louisville Memorial Gardens West.
Visitation will be from 4 -8 p.m. Saturday and 12 – 8 p.m. Sunday at Owen Funeral Home, 5317 Dixie Highway and after 10 a.m. on Monday at his church.
