WORCESTER-Earl R. Larson, 91, of Worcester, died peacefully, Thursday, August 19 at home, surrounded by his loving family. He leaves his wife of 67 years, Hedwig M. (Zawistowski) Larson; two sons, Earl R. Larson, Jr. and his wife Patricia of Northborough and Paul R. Larson and his wife Sheri of Wasilla, Alaska; two daughters, Anne Walker and her husband Jonathan Tilton of Marblehead and Evelyn M. Rose and her husband, Courtice of Sherbrooke, Quebec, Canada. He also leaves eight grandchildren, ten great grandchildren and many nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by a brother Eric Larson and four sisters, Ethel Larson, Elsie Cherry, Ellen Livingston and Ebba Bergquist.
He was born in Worcester, son of Axel F. and Bertha L. (Nordquist) Larson and lived in Worcester for most of his life. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II in the South Pacific. Mr. Larson was a cable worker at U.S. Steel for 31 years before retiring, after which he worked for the City of Worcester as a custodian at Worcester Industrial Technical Institute. He was a founding member of St. Catherine of Sweden Church. He enjoyed camping and fishing, especially during his trips to Alaska.
The funeral will be held on Monday, August 23 from LINDQUIST LUNDIN FUNERAL HOME, 36 Butler Street with a Mass at 10:00 AM in Sacred Heart-St. Catherine of Sweden Church, 600 Cambridge Street. Burial will follow in Notre Dame Cemetery. Visiting hours are Sunday, August 22 from 4-7 PM in the funeral home.
