Raymond C. Lafontaine, 78, of Rathbun St., Woonsocket, and formerly of Winter St., Manville, died Saturday evening at home. He was the husband of the late Marie A. (McDonald) Lafontaine.
Born in Manville, he was a son of the late Omer and Helena (Peloquin) Lafontaine. He was raised in Manville and resided there for many years. He lived in Woonsocket for the past 30 years.
Mr. Lafontaine was employed by the Lincoln Sanitation Dept. and later worked for Forte Cashmere in Woonsocket.
Ray was a member of the Knights of Columbus and was an avid collector of various types of memorabilia. He loved working with his hands and was very mechanically inclined. Ray spent countless hours with his sons doing various repair and home improvement projects.
He is survived by three sons, Ronald, Raymond, and Roland Lafontaine, all of Woonsocket, and two daughters Charlotte Lafontaine of Ohio, and Christine Savage of Woonsocket. He was the brother of the late Jeanne Lafontaine. He is also survived by 4 grandchildren, Ronald Jr., Todd, April, and Chrystal, and 11 great-grandchildren.
His funeral will be Friday at 9:00am from the Menard Funeral Home, 71 Central St., Manville, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am in St. James Church, Division St., Manville. Burial will follow in St. James Cemetery, Manville. Visiting hours are Thursday from 4-8 pm.
