John J. “JB” Blunt 75 years, of Brockton died August 16, 2010 at the Good Samaritan Medical Center. He was the husband for 50 years of Cynthia R. (Bailey) Blunt. A lifelong resident of the city, he was the son of the late Francis and Kathleen (Burgoyne) Blunt.
Mr. Blunt was a graduate of Brockton High School Class of 1953, and served in the US Army. He had been employed by the City of Brockton, Department of Public Works, for 30 years retiring in 2000, as a foreman. JB was a longtime member of the Bertocci Club, and was an avid sports fan who enjoyed the Red Sox and Patriots. He also enjoyed gardening, crossword puzzles, music, barbecuing, and his dog Misty, but what gave him the most enjoyment was spending time with his grandchildren.
He is also survived by his children Rev. John Blunt and his wife Martha of S. Deerfield; Ellen Lynch and her husband Jack; Eileen Blunt and James Blunt all of Brockton and Joseph Blunt of E. Bridgewater; four grandchildren Christen, Christopher and John Mark Blunt and John Lynch; three sisters Joan Caledonia of Brockton; Nancy Roy and Kathleen Valin both of FL and several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Mary Smith.
Funeral from the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street, (Rte 123) Brockton Friday at 9am. Funeral Mass in Christ the King Parish at 10am. Burial in Pine Hill Cemetery. W. Bridgewater.
