Barney Lee Hughes, Jr., 52, of Danville died Tuesday, August 17, 2010 at his home. He was born May 28, 1958 to Barney Lee Hughes, Sr. and Barbara McGuire Hughes, both deceased.
Mr. Hughes was the former owner and operator of Brentwood Amoco on North Main Street. In the past two and a half years his health had declined. He was loved by many for his generosity and thoughtfulness. Mr. Hughes lived his entire life in Danville. Mr. Hughes was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church.
He is survived by one son, Barney L. Hughes III and his wife Amy of Danville; one brother, Michael B. Hughes of Danville and two sisters, Debra H. Watts and husband, Charles of Danville and Karen H. Reynolds and husband Michael of Lynchburg.
The Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Friday, August 20, 2010 at Swicegood Funeral Home with Reverend Lawrence Morris officiating. Burial will follow at Danville Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 7:00 P.M. until 8:30 P.M. on Thursday, August 19, 2010 at Swicegood Funeral Home.
The family respectfully requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Danville Cancer Association, 2323 Riverside Drive, Suite J, Danville, Virginia.
