NORTON – Gilbert F. Simas, 84, a longtime Norton resident, died at Longmeadow of Taunton on Aug. 17, 2010.
He was the husband of the late Caroline (Teixeira) Simas.
Born in Taunton, he was the son of the late Arsenio M. and Maria Deodata (Furtado) Simas.
Mr. Simas was raised and educated in Taunton, and a 1944 graduate of Taunton High School.
A U.S. Navy Veteran of the second world war, he later graduated from Bentley College, where he received an associate’s degree in accounting in 1949.
Mr. Simas was employed as an accountant and auditor for the MA Rate Setting Commission, working in the Boston office for over 21 years.
He retired in 1992.
Survivors include a brother, Jeremias F. Simas of Buzzards Bay, and several nieces and nephews.
He was the brother of the late Dennis F. Simas.
Funeral Services will be held at the Silva Funeral Home, 80 Broadway, Taunton on Friday, Aug. 20th at 10:30 a.m.
Burial Will be at St. Joseph Cemetery in Taunton.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
The family will be receiving visitors at the funeral home from 9:30 to 10:30 prior to the Services.
