Obituary

John Greenfield, 85, of Dartmouth died August 16, 2010 at home after a brief illness.
He was the husband of Eileen C. (McCawley) Greenfield with whom he shared 62 years of marriage.
Born in New Bedford, the son of the late Frederick and May (Bottomley) Greenfield, he lived in Dartmouth most of his life.
Mr. Greenfield operated Greenfield's Garage, a family owned business for many years until his retirement in 1980.
He enjoyed time with his wood working and the many hunting seasons at Buck Mountain Camp with his hunting partners.
Mr. Greenfield served in the U.S. Navy during World War II on the LST 669 in the South Pacific where he received 5 campaign ribbons.
Survivors include his wife, Eileen; 2 daughters, Donna Mae Greenfield and her companion Albert Cote of Westport and Gail DeMello and her husband Albert of Dartmouth; 2 sons, Wayne Greenfield and his companion Patricia Sinna of Florida and Brian John Greenfield and his wife Ellen of Wareham; 7 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
His quick wit and sense of humor will be remembered and missed by all who knew him.
His family will receive guests on Wednesday morning, August 18th from 10 - 11 AM followed by his Funeral Service at 11 AM in the the Saunders-Dwyer Home For Funerals, 495 Park St. New Bedford. Burial will follow in the Massachusetts National Cemetery.
