Obituary

Mr. Thomas F. Beggan , a resident of Windham, New Hampshire, formerly of Andover and beloved husband of Peggy (Mullin) Beggan.
Born in Boston on May 1, 1940, Tom was the beloved son of the late T.F. and Ethel Beggan. After being raised in Dorchester, he graduated from Boston College in 1962. Following graduation, Mr. Beggan joined the Navy and was on active duty from 1962 - 1966. He remained in the reserves until 1978 retiring as a Lieutenent Commander. He worked for the Gillette Company as a Division Manager of Production and retired in 2000 after 34 years. Tom was active with St. Robert's Church in Andover and after retirement, he was a mentor in Lawrence for underprivileged high school students. In his younger years he enjoyed coaching his sons' little league teams. Tom loved the water and enjoyed boating. He spent his summers with his children and grandchildren at the family's lakehouse on Sebago Lake in Maine. He was an avid Boston sports fan and enjoyed watching the Bruins, Red Sox and Patriots.
Besides his beloved wife, Peggy, he leaves behind 3 children; Tom Beggan of Chester, N.H., Dennis Beggan of Windham, N.H. and Lisa Beggan Henneberry, wife of Jay Henneberry of Madison, CT, five grandchildren; Kathleen and Shaun Henneberry and Patrick, Robert and Matthew Beggan, three siblings; Robert and his wife Pamela Beggan of Alexandria, VA, Marie and her husband Gerard Donegan of Braintree, Barbara and her husband Jeff Forsythe of Marshfield and 11 nieces and nephews.
His Funeral Mass was celebrated in St. Robert Bellarmine Church, 198 Haggett’s Pond Road, Andover, Tuesday, August 17, 2010, at 11 AM. Many relatives and friends respectfully attended. Calling hours were held in the Burke-Magliozzi Funeral Home, 390 North Main St., Andover, Monday, August 16, 2010, from 4 to 8 PM. Burial was private. Donations in Tom’s memory may be made to the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation, 811 West Evergreen, Suite 303, Chicago, IL 60642 or to the MSPCA, 350 South Huntington Avenue, Boston, MA 02130.
